May 10, 2009 (The Dallas Morning News delivered by Newstex ) --
As every Mavericks fan knows by now, the NBA came out and admitted that its officiating crew erred in not whistling Antoine Wright for an intentional foul on Denver's final, fateful Game 3 possession. That announcement occurred two hours after the game, after most of the Mavericks coaches and players had left American Airlines (NYSE:AMR) Center. Their reaction Sunday to the league's mea culpa?
Coach Rick Carlisle commended the NBA for its transparency, an approach the league didn't used to take when it came to officiating matters. But team captain Dirk Nowitzki wishes the NBA had not been so, well, honest, in this situation.
"If I was the league, I wouldn't say that," Dirk said Sunday. "I don't think it makes anybody feel better. We don't get the last seven seconds back, to kind of play it over again. So more than anything, I think it made it worse."
How about it Mavericks fans? Do you agree with Dirk? Did the league, in fact, make it that much harder for the Mavs' to put Game 3 behind them?
