Dallas Mavericks Roster Report 2009-10-31

Dallas Mavericks Roster Report 2009-10-31ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Jason Kidd, Shooting guard Quinton Ross, Small forward Shawn Marion, Power forward Dirk Nowitzki, Center Erick Dampier. Bench -- Guard Jason Terry, Guard J.J. Barea, Forward/Center Drew Gooden, Forward James Singleton, Guard Matt Carroll, Guard Roddy Beaubois, Forward Kris Humphries.

PLAYER NOTES:

--F Dirk Nowitzki scored 21 points in Friday's win at the Lakers. Dating back to the last season, Nowitzki has now scored at least 20 in 27 consecutive regular season games, the longest such streak in the NBA. His longest personal streak of games is 31 going back 2006-07.

--G Jason Terry is perhaps the league's ultimate scoring weapon off the bench. But the reigning Sixth Man of the Year said the team's offense still starts with Dirk Nowitzki, even after all the offseason changes designed to make the squad more dynamic.

"Our game is a lot of Dirk and then the other guys trying to find their way and get the ball inside, penetrating and moving the ball," Terry said.

--C Erick Dampier has started the first two games, which is and isn't a surprise. The talk in Dallas during the preseason revolved around Drew Gooden being the probable starter in the post, but the Mavs' first two foes had traditional centers in Brendan Haywood (Washington) and Andrew Bynum (Lakers), making Dampier a viable option because of his size.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--F Tim Thomas (knee surgery) is rehabbing from surgery on Sept. 22. The free-agent signee was injured working out this offseason. He's not expected back for at least the first month of the season.

--F Josh Howard (ankle surgery) is not at 100 percent. He could return to the lineup in mid-November.
