Dallas Mavericks Roster Report 2008-12-31
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Jason Kidd, Shooting guard Antoine Wright, Small forward Josh Howard, Power forward Dirk Nowitzki, Center Erick Dampier. Bench -- Guard Jason Terry, Center DeSagana Diop, Forward James Singleton, Guard J.J. Barea, Guard-Forward Devean George, Forward Brandon Bass.

--F Josh Howard said he's as healthy as he's been all season, which included a sprained left wrist early in the season followed by a sprained left ankle that kept him out of action for 11 games.

Howard racked up his most minutes, 39:49, in his eighth consecutive start since his return on Dec. 15. In his last two games, Howard has scored 52 points on 20 of 42 shooting, including eight of 14 from the three-point line.

--G Jason Terry has been hard on himself in recent weeks about defensive deficiencies. On Tuesday, he helped to lock down the Timberwolves after falling behind 62-40 at halftime.

Terry did it all, scoring 29 points, 24 in the second half, to help lead the comeback. He was most proud of the defensive work by the team.

"We are a great defensive field-goal percentage team (43.5, fifth in the league) and we pride ourselves on that," Terry said. "Going into halftime, we looked at each other and knew that we had to find out what we as individuals could do to make a difference."

--G Jason Kidd, at 35 years old, is proving he still has the endurance of a 25-year-old. On Tuesday night, he told the coaching staff that if they needed him, he could play the entire second half.

He played 21:42 of it and 39:30 for the game. He's averaging 35.7 minutes a game, second-highest on the team.

"Everybody wanted to play and that is something that, when we are down, you need," Kidd said.

--G-F Jerry Stackhouse (right heel) is out indefinitely.
