Dallas Mavericks Roster Report 2008-12-22

Dallas Mavericks Roster Report 2008-12-22
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Jason Kidd, Shooting guard Devean George, Small forward Josh Howard, Power forward Dirk Nowitzki, Center Erick Dampier. Bench -- Guard Jason Terry, Guard J.J. Barea, Forward, Center DeSagana Diop, Forward James Singleton.

PLAYER NOTES:

--G Gerald Green said he's "cool" with his playing situation, which has been practically zilch of late. The fourth-year swingman was inactive Sunday for the second time in three games.

Green has played a total of 12 minutes since logging 13 at Sacramento on Nov. 29.

--G/F Jerry Stackhouse said his right foot injury is worse than he originally thought. He missed his 17th consecutive game Sunday at Washington and has no timetable for a return.

He last played on Nov. 14. Shortly thereafter, he requested a trade because he was unhappy with coach Rick Carlisle's plan to reduce his minutes in favor or trying to develop Gerald Green and Antoine Wright.

"I can't run or jump," Stackhouse said.

Ironically, if Stackhouse were healthy, he'd likely be reaping minutes because both Green and Wright are mired on the bench.

Stackhouse will remain in Dallas to rehab when the Mavericks head to Portland for a Christmas night game and then games at Utah and the Los Angeles Clippers.

--F Brandon Bass is a coach's dream. He practices hard, he listens and he wants to get better. But even he knows what coach Rick Carlisle told everyone Sunday: Anyone who isn't playing well better be prepared to sit down.

Bass did not play at Washington on Sunday, his first DNP-Coach's Decision of the season. Clearly, Carlisle was trying to get a message through to his 6-foot-8, 240-pound power forward/center, mainly that the 4.6 points and 3.3 rebounds he averaged in the three previous games won't cut it. Little-used forward James Singleton saw extra action, logging nearly 29 minutes and producing eight points and 13 rebounds.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--G/F Jerry Stackhouse (right heel) is out indefinitely.
