--As many times as the Mavericks beat Miami, and it's been 11 straight now in the regular season, it won't ever erase the events of June 2006. Dallas squandered a 2-0 lead in the Finals and lost in six games to the Heat. The monumental collapse still eats at the Mavs. "Getting back in that arena brings up old memories," Jason Terry said, "and I don't think we'll ever get that taste out of our mouths until we get a championship here in Dallas."
--The Mavs held their annual Seats for Soldiers event Saturday night against Charlotte. Now in its sixth year, the opportunity to thank the armed forces has become one of the league's truly unique and touching traditions.
Season ticket holder Neal Hawks came up with the idea of donating front-row tickets to military personnel and convinced everyone on the first row to follow suit.
Soldiers from Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio and Fort Hood Army Base were among those in attendance. The courtside seats at American Airlines Center are valued at more than $235,000.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "He's a quiet guy, like me. And he kept his private life out of the limelight, just like I did. And to be all of the sudden in the news like that is tough. It's not fun. But it's something he has to work through, and it's his own business." -- Forward Dirk Nowitzki, on Tiger Woods. Nowitzki went through a public breakup last season.
