Dallas Mavericks Notes, Quotes 2009-11-07

--G Jason Terry stepped to the line with 9.5 seconds left in the fourth quarter with a chance to build on a three-point lead. He missed. No worries, J.J. Barea followed Terry with another two free throws. Clank and clank.

Given new life, Hornets F Peja Stojakovic drilled a game-tying three-pointer with 6.7 seconds remained. Drained, the Mavs fell in overtime.

"The opportunities were there," Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said. "We played a great game. We didn't play a pretty game, but we battled."

--The Mavericks continue to remain mum on the alleged homophobic slur made by Drew Gooden in Los Angeles. Clippers fan and actor Chris Wylde claimed that Gooden made the remark towards people he was with in the hallway at Staples Center.

The NBA is looking into the matter. Mark Cuban has said the team would deal with Gooden internally. Gooden is currently out of the lineup with a sore rib cage.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "That's just the way the game of basketball can be sometimes. It can be nice and it can be cruel." -- G Jason Kidd, after the Mavs failed to close out a win Wednesday night at New Orleans.
