Dallas Mavericks Notes, Quotes 2009-11-01

Dallas Mavericks Notes, Quotes 2009-11-01--Mark Cuban continues to have fun with Ron Artest. After speculating this summer that the volatile forward may disrupt the Lakers' chemistry, the Mavs owner quipped that, "(Artest is) probably mad because I heard he went out with Khloe before L.O. did."

Those in question are Lamar Odom and his new bride, Khloe Kardashian. Cuban was also asked if he could take a chance on a player like Artest.

"We got Shawne Williams and took a chance on him," Cuban said of the troubled forward. "It didn't work out and we put him out to pasture."

--A letdown might have been expected after beating the Lakers in a soldout Staples Center and returning the next night to face the winless Clippers in the same (lifeless) building.

Dirk Nowitzki said avoiding such a slipup was the focus of a pregame chat.

"We talked about it as a team -- our team leaders did," Nowitzki said. "A win against the Lakers doesn't mean anything if you turn back around and lose the next night against the Clippers and be 1-2."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "After we got the win yesterday, we definitely didn't want to just split. We wanted to go home with a 2-0 trip. It definitely wasn't easy tonight." -- F Dirk Nowitzki, after beating the Lakers and Clippers on successive nights.
