
--Avery Johnson was dismissed as the Mavericks' head coach on Wednesday, after compiling a record of 194-70 (.735) in the regular season and 23-24 (.489) in the playoffs. The Mavericks' 67-15 season last year under Johnson was the best in the league.
--Dirk Nowitzki became an MVP under former Johnson's tutelage, but he didn't seem heartbroken by his coach's dismissal. "Was it time for a change? I guess," said Nowitzki. "I think this franchise, we owe him a lot. Unfortunately, it's just one of those situations where everybody's got to move on."
