--The Mavericks and Dallas Cowboys announced a joint effort that will bring the NBA's 2010 All-Star Game to the new Cowboys stadium in Arlington, which will hold in excess of 96,000 in a basketball configuration and is expected to easily set an attendance world record for a basketball game.
"We're going to make this the biggest event this country has ever seen," Mavs owner Mark Cuban said. The Friday and Saturday events will be held at the Mavs' home arena, the American Airlines Center, while the Fan Jam heads to the Dallas Convention Center.
--Coach Rick Carlisle wants the Mavs to shoot about 18 three-pointers a game and he wants the shots to come off transition or crisp ball movement. The Mavs shot 16 against Houston, but made just four and came up empty on six attempts in the fourth quarter. "When the ball moves, I don't know why, I mean I know why, but I don't know that there's a specific definition of why, the more guys that touch it, the more frequently that it goes in," Carlisle said. "That happens more times than not when you're able to get a stop and get an advantage."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I'll be shocked if we finish eighth or ninth in the West and I probably won't be on this team next year if that's the case. I love the city of Dallas and I want to be here, so I've got a better suggestion for us and that's not be eighth or ninth." -- Jason Terry, on pundits suggesting the Mavs will struggle to make the playoffs.
